Marbles found

Arundel's residents are playing marbles on Wednesday evenings. Unfortunately I've arranged to see a friend tonight, otherwise I'd be tempted to go along. Honestly, I would.

Hello, Mark, it's the other one here. You know, the other pedant, kindred spirit and all that, who longs to be in a hug free environment.

Were you a marbles player as a kid? Great fun at school, we had a dirt playground and I would spend every opportunity playing when I was 10 or 11, but for some reason the urge diminished as the age increased, don't know why.

You don't appear on purplecoo any more, now the testing period is long gone and the silly lot are all there - is that perhaps why?

Hi, jackofall - I was never a particularly sociable blogger (or, indeed, a particularly sociable person - but that's another story). I tend not to post a "look, I've posted" comment on PurpleCoo every time I write something, mainly because (a) I don't always have much interesting to say and (b) an RSS reader does the job just as well. I'm also hoping to change my username on PurpleCoo from "Mark" to "Del Arun" but there doesn't seem an easy way to do it - or a discreet way to contact someone to ask. Oops. That was a bit of a rant.

As a child I'd play marbles occasionally with my brother, although neither of us got as serious as to use the 'language of marbles' - bulls-eyes, alleys and so on...
